Remote work as an opportunity

Jun. 2022

The Digital Sector is an incredibly competitive industry, but with the rise in remote work, it's also one of the best opportunities for success.

If you're looking to hire remotely for your own business, or just want to find a flexible job, read on!

We've got four tips to help you get started and make the most of your remote work opportunity:

1.      Have regular check-ins with your colleagues

Just because you're not seeing them every day doesn't mean they've stopped existing!

Schedule meetings and take breaks together, so that you can stay connected to your team and feel like a part of something bigger than yourself, even if you're miles apart.

Be active online, use digital tools (Slack, email, etc.) to stay connected with your colleagues. You can even plan in online activities to bond as a team (online yoga, shared digital workspace for listening to music, etc.)

2.      Set up good habits early on

Working remotely means that you are the one who gets to control what happens during the day and how much work gets done!

Make sure that your mornings are productive, and set deadlines for yourself that will help keep you on track during the day.

When working remotely, it's important that you find a way to manage your time effectively so that you can stay productive and engaged. Try using a calendar app or to-do list app for your tasks, to help you keep track of what needs to be done and when.

3.      Determine how long it takes for your productivity to wane

Are you a morning person who can get more done before lunch than most people do all day? Or are you an afternoon person who does their best work in the evening?

Take advantage of your natural rhythms by scheduling the bulk of your work for when you're most productive, leaving low-priority or maintenance tasks for later in the day.

4.       Choose a dedicated workspace that makes you feel like you're at work

Working in an office means being surrounded by people and having access to certain tools that help you focus on the task at hand. If you want to replicate this feeling in your home, consider setting up a dedicated space where you can get down to business and promise yourself not to use it for anything else (like watching Netflix) ; a space where you can go to do your job and nothing else.

Even if it's a corner of the kitchen or a desk in your living room, having a place that is just yours to work makes all the difference in how productive you are.

Working remotely gives you the opportunity to work in a way that best suits your lifestyle and your needs. You can work from where you are most comfortable: whether it's a home office, coffee shop, or anywhere else. You can also choose when you work, as long as you deliver the outcomes and results you need to.
